About Us
The Capital Area Soccer Referees Association was established as a Maryland not-for-profit membership corporation in 1991. CASRA is committed to excellence in soccer officiating. CASRA provides officials for clubs, schools, and tournaments -- both outdoor and indoor thoughout much of Maryland.

Travel and Rec Leagues.  CASRA assigns top-level travel leagues, including BBSL, NCSL, ECNL, CCL, NEPAL, and EDP in Maryland and Northern Virginia. CASRA assigns a large number of recreation leagues: Anne Arundel County Parks & Rec, Charles County, Calvert Soccer, Central Maryland Soccer League, Olney Boys & Girls Club, PG County Boys & Girls Club, SAM League (Maryland SoccerPlex), Soccer Association of Columbia (SAC) (greater Columbia area), St. Mary's Soccer and Waldorf Soccer Club.

Public and Private High Schools.  CASRA provides officials for Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association games in Anne Arundel, Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s Counties. CASRA serves many private high schools in Maryland. In particular, CASRA assigns for the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) girls’ program throughout the state.  The following Maryland members of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference use CASRA's services: Academy of the Holy Cross, DeMatha, Elizabeth Seaton, Good Counsel, and St. Mary's Ryken. CASRA assigns the district-wide championship for the DC Interscholastic Atheletic Association (DCIAA).

Youth Tournaments. CASRA has contracts to provide referees for nationally recognized tournaments at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown: Potomac Memorial Day, Embassy Cup, Maryland Rush Labor Day, Discovery Cup (Columbus Day weekend), and Bethesda Thanksgiving, as well as other competitive and rec tournaments.

Indoor Soccer. CASRA provides opportunities for its officials year-round.  Its Futsal-registered assignors cover youth and adult indoor games at the Maryland SportsPlex (Millersville, MD), the Discovery Sports Center (Germantown), and Charles County and adult games at the Stevensville Indoor Arena (Kent Island).

Adult. CASRA assigns adult 7v7 outdoor leagues at the Maryland SoccerPlex (Germantown), and adult social leagues leagues in Baltimore, District of Columbia, Howard County, Southern Maryland and Northern Virginia.

As a result of its dedication to serving both referees and clients, CASRA has enjoyed significant growth through the years.  A large body of more than 2,700 active referees, almost all of whom are USSF-registered and many also MPSSAA-registered (eligible for Maryland public high school games), covers the more than 38,000 indoor and outdoor games assigned by CASRA each year.
